She specializes in contemporary painting, beading, leatherwork<br>as well as arts and culture facilitation, Indigenous governance, community and program development. Her traditional name is \u2018Mushkiiki Nibi Kwe\u2019, which translates to \u2018Medicine Water Woman\u2019 and she is turtle clan.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsey is a graduate of OCAD University and has sat on a number of community boards and committees in the Toronto area over the years. Some of her past committee work has been for the Planet IndigenUs Festival, Indigenous Education Council (OCADU), Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, and the Institute for Research and Development on Inclusion and Society. She is currently a member of the Toronto Arts Council- Indigenous Advisory Committee.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2017, Lindsey was shortlisted and awarded a public arts project for the Region of Waterloo\u2019s LRT System resulting in a permanent public instillation for the Block Line stop that speaks to the historical stewardship of the land base of Waterloo and the importance of agriculture from a First Nations perspective. Lindsey was also received an International Women\u2019s Day-Leadership in the Arts award in 2019.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is currently the Community Safety Liaison for the Ontario Native Women\u2019s Association (ONWA) and practices out of both Toronto and Six Nations of the Grand River.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Medicine Water Woman\u2019 Lindsey is a Haudenosaune\/ Anishinaabe artist and facilitator originally from Six Nations of the Grand River with ancestral roots to the Mississauga\u2019s of the New Credit.
